If you buy furniture from North Macedonia for an EU market or a country with a free-trade agreement, the EUR.1 certificate is the document that unlocks preferential (usually zero) customs duty.
What is EUR.1? EUR.1 is a certificate of origin. It proves the furniture was manufactured in North Macedonia and therefore qualifies for preferential treatment under free-trade agreements.
What does it mean in money? Without the certificate, the importer often pays duty on the full shipment value. With EUR.1, duty on most furniture entering the EU is 0%.
